F11.3: Will the same Jesus who ascended return visibly?

Step F11.3.1: Scripture

Acts 1:9–11 (‘This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven’); Luke 24:50–51 with Acts 1; John 14:3; 1 Thess 4:16. The angels join identity (’this Jesus’) to a visible return in the manner of the ascent. Distinct from F13.1 by the ascension–return link rather than the content of judgement.

Polycarp (Era I): God gave Christ ‘a throne at His right hand’ and ‘He comes as the Judge of the living and the dead’ in one confession. Irenaeus (Era II) rule of faith: ’the ascension into heaven in the flesh’ and ‘His [future] manifestation from heaven in the glory of the Father’.
